I was taught the type of clothes to wear, the way to wash my hands and other things that increase infection control. A very important set of skills that are mandatory in a health care environment to protect the patient and other co-workers. It was good to work with other professions as a team however, I was often very clumsy when doing the practicals and hesitant, mainly because I had limited experience and limited knowledge of what I was supposed to do. Hygiene and infection control is compulsory at all times. It is also highly important to work as a team with the other professionals to provide the best health care possible for the patient and to always keep the patient’s needs in mind.
I realise that it would have been helpful for me to have researched more into the procedures being carried out using the internet or books so that I could have been more confident in myself and enabled myself to work more efficiently. After my moving and handling practicals it helped me to read through recommended books such as ‘The Handling of People’ so that I can make the right decisions when manual handling to protect the patient and also protect my back when doing
