Should some cases of juvenile crimes charge in adult criminal court?
The issue of whether Juvenile Offenders should be charge in adult criminal court has been, throughout the ages, hotly debated. Some contend that adolescents are too young to be charged in adult criminal court and have not fully developed such as a maturity to accept severe punishments that adults offenders often get. Others dispute aforementioned assertion by saying that juvenile crimes are equally serious compared to adult crimes and should be transfer to adult criminal court and get punishment that they deserve. The ultimate goal of juvenile crime system is rehabilitation an protection as mentioned above while adult court system focuses more on corrections whether it is prison or other types of punishment. Adolescents, however, are socially recognized as young adults who are able to think logically and take responsibility of what they did. It is certain juveniles also have the idea of what is right and wrong, which is different from maturity. Yes, wavier should be given if a youth is mentally sick or went through a traumatic history that made him/her to commit crimes. However, if an adolescent who committed crime is a normal kid without any valid reason, then he or she must take responsibility of what he or she has done. In fact, level of seriousness made by juveniles is also not significantly different from crimes committed by adults. I think most juvenile crime cases should transfer to adult crime with an exception of waivers because adolescents have ability to choose how they would act and the seriousness of crime is not so much different from that of
