September 8, 2002, The New York Times published an article headlined, “U.S. Says Hussein Intensifies Quest for A-Bomb Parts.” With various, but unreliable, sources Miller quickly found herself under fire as the media whiplashed her with scrutiny.

Miller even went from placing the blame on the Bush administration to placing it on the Clinton administration, saying, “It was Bill Clinton who was worried about Iraq. Long before George Bush bombed Iraq…”
Miller continuously denies any allegation that she worked with the Bush administration to push the U.S. towards war. In a satirical op-ed she wrote for the Wall Street Journal she begins the story, “I took America to war in Iraq. It was all me,” in hopes that the American people would find it humorous and unreasonable. Though, the response was just the opposite.
The Washington Post responded to her use of satire and wrote, “The satire fails because Miller worked as a journalist for the New York Times. For decades she basked in the influence and prestige of what’s know as America’s paper of record. She used the paper’s influence and prestige to break the scoops that secured her Pulitzer and other distinctions.”
