The author JRR.Tolkien may consider traits positive and may consider some negative. He likes when people have characteristics that are nice and have manners that if they do something they will fix it and just not being mean. He dislikes people that have characteristics that are unmannerly and mean and abusive and just hateful. Well I consider being intelligent may be more important because just running into a dangerous place without knowing what to do is not very smart because that person could die ,but if you thought through with a plan and played out the plan you have a better chance of surviving.
Tolkien enjoys having polite and kind people instead of having mean and rude people because in the novel he gives the main characters nice and
