Basketball Training

I have spent the last five years of my life serving the church and building up a generation of people who desire to live a life of service and holiness. In these five years I have learned of my calling and the power of what it is I should be doing to advance the kingdom of God. Coaching basketball has been on my heart for a very long time and stepping into that aspect has taken a lot of hard work and dedication. Being obedient to this call has allowed for me to train a lot of young players who wish to advance their playing skills. One of my favorite clients is Hannah; she inspires me daily and has pushed me towards finishing my degree. When I first started training Hannah her skills were beyond

For my UConn Alumni Feature, I had the responsibility of interviewing a young man by the name of Justin Paluch, an assistant basketball coach for Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. I originally chose Justin due to his current profession and after a 40-minute phone call that consisted of exchanging information and receiving advice, I am perfectly satisfied with the decision that I made. I thought it would be best to conduct my interview with starting from the beginning of his career up until where he is in his life today. The biggest thing that we had in common was the obvious: the fact that we both have attended the University of Connecticut. We talked about why he chose UConn and whether or not he felt that the Sport Management program did him justice.…

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

Having the time of refuge on a basketball court brings chills down my spine and tingling in my fingers, eager awaiting the next time I have a basketball in my hands. Playing basketball relieves the mind when shooting around, dribbling the ball constantly, and dedicating time to the sport. Shooting around relieved the stress I was feeling, I would walk into the gym with my headphones in my ear, blasting insane pump up music to get me in the mood to start my hooping session and bumping my music, nodding my head to the beat. I could smell the freshly waxed wooden floors and the light fixtures up above shining bright illuminate light down on me as if I was in the spotlight in a grand theatre.…
