Joseph Stalin was born to a hardworking mother (Keke Geladze) and an abusive father, (Besarion Jughashvili). Besarion was an alcoholic cobbler, and in his drunken rages, beat Joseph and his wife. This is what may have given Stalin his cold and cruel demeanour. After separating from her husband Keke held down many jobs to provide for both her and her son. During Stalin's early teenage years he won a scholarship at the Georgian Orthodox Church, in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Unfortunately after missing exams, Stalin got himself expelled. However, Stalin claimed that it was for spreading Marxist propaganda amongst his peers. After his expulsion, Stalin robbed banks and committed other crimes under the command of Vladimir Lenin. The proceeds of said crimes went to Lenin's political party, the Bolsheviks. At the age of 33, Stalin joined the first Central Committee of the Bolshevik Party, at the request of Lenin.
