Despite the many claims that technology is creating barriers in our society, people seem to forget that modern day electronics are simply the newspapers and radios of the past. While the object of contention has changed, the argument and concerns have not. For example, in the myth Pandora’s Box, Pandora was unable to resist the mystery and excitement of what was in the box and ended up releasing all the evils into the world. This tale warns against being too eager to explore the unknown, whether it be technology or investing all of one's time into other forms of media. When Campbell discusses myths being outdated and unrelatable, I believe he is incorrect. There is no denying that things do change over time, but the lessons from myths remain the same. Perhaps if people paid attention to myths such as Midas’s we wouldn't have the same problems as people did in the 8th century with power and corruption. Thus, when Campbell states that, “The virtues of the past are the vices of today,” I must disagree with him because corruption and greed were the vices of the past and continue to be the vices of today. While one would like to think that people are evolving, we still share many of the same emotional experiences and issues as our ancestors
