Jordan Spieth His season is considered one of the best ever seen during the Professional Golfers Association. With a season including five wins, two of them being major championships, Jordan Spieth sure did earn the 2014-2015 title of Player of the Year. In order to attain this amazing season Jordan Spieth had to change his game to be successful on the the PGA Tour. The changes Jordan made included spending more hours of time with his coach perfecting new techniques, working out and getting stronger in the weight room, and receiving motivation from his autistic sister, Ellie. The first mechanic that McCormick wanted to change was Spieth’s putting grip. He wanted Spieth to go from normal right hand on bottom, left hand on top, to crosshand left hand on bottom, and right on top. After changing his grip in the 2014-2015 season, Spieth became the number one putter of the golf ball in the world. Also with an average of 25.25 putts per round Spieth leads the world in fewest putts per round (CBS Broadcasting Inc). Spieth also changed his pre-putt routine in order to get better reads off the greens. In order to roll the ball into the center of the cup it is necessary to have the right line and speed. When Spieth changed his pre- putt routine he was able to read the greens better therefore making more putts and becoming one of the best putters in the world (Spieth). Spieth also had to master the high long iron. From 220 yards he wanted to be able to hit a five or four iron high up into the air in order to clear a tree or a lateral hazard. He also learned the one hop stop wedge shot, which is a great shot to use from 90 yards and in. This shot helps pros hit the ball to a very small target area on the green and the ball will stop within that area. Finally he reworked his “go to tee shot.” Every Player of the Year has a tee shot that they go to if something is going completely wrong throughout their round. Whether that is a five iron fade or draw, a nice easy fairway wood …show more content…
Ellie is Jordan’s sister and she is his number one fan. Ellie suffers from a neurological disorder that places her on the autism spectrum (Hennessey). She always supports Jordan in whatever it is that he is doing. Jordan said “I wouldn’t be where I am today without my sister Ellie” (Jordan Spieth Motivated). Jordan said that "She only accepts me if I win. And if I don't win, I better have something for her or take her shopping” (Hennessey). Their mother wants people to know that Ellie has shaped her brother far more than any swing coach ever could

Knowledge of the game is decisive, in having adequate proficiency to play each shot consistently. Club selection, as well as awareness of position on the course are invaluable to well-placed shots.…
