But because of some disputes with his commanding officer, he was only in Florida for a year. Now after being a teacher and going through many marriages, Jackson became a drill master when the Civil War began. On April 27, 1861 Colonel Jackson was ordered to take command at Harpers Ferry. It was here where he assembled his famous "Stonewall Birgade". Following raids on the B&O Railroad on May 24, he was promoted to Brigadier General on June 17. During the battle of Chancellorsville, Jackson was injured by his own men. Because of his injuries in Chancellorsville, his right arm was amputated. And because of this injury, he also caught pneumonia. Thomas Jonathan Jackson died due to the complications of pneumonia on May 10,1863. His body was moved to the Governor's Mansion in Richmond for the public to mourn. His body's final resting place is in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery in Lexington,
