SHOULD THE UNITED STATES INCREASE JOINT/COALITION OPERATIONS?
1. The United States military has changed over the past decade. The adaptation of the United States military fighting arm has grown to deal with the increase of non-conventional enemies as well as its complex environment. This paper focuses on the pro-con plus one approach that supports the increase of joint/coalition operations. Covered are three main points: positive effects, disadvantages and the advantages of joint/coalition operations.

Today the security realm has changed in order to deal with the advance information, transformation and globalization of non-traditional adversaries.1 Due to the expansion of the enemy, the military and its capabilities must be ahead of their opponents. A positive expansion of the military is joint/coalition operations. The strength of its structure is a comprehensive inclusion of multinational operations.2 The multinational partners have become an integral part of how joint/coalition operations are done. As everyone view the military in their own light, war tends keeps the military armed forces employed. However, there is never a program or system that can be presented without flaws. Disadvantages of joint/coalition operations vary by different factors such as planning, decision making and warfare.4 The lack of basic logistical sustainment through support, is another major disadvantage because of the complexity of the operations itself.5 This is because it differs from a symmetric single service, to synchronizing and movement of separate forces.6 Primarily the disadvantages of joint/coalition operations comes from the different styles of warfare, biases and doctrines.7 This leaves the stronger countries carrying the load of most operations and the public’s negative review when operations aren’t
