Logan is John and Traca’s sixteen-year-old son. He is “an honor student, a top-ranked cross-country runner, an artist; a solitary figure in many ways” and was generally happy (Marshall 10). Before the trip he lacked confidence and wasn’t a big risk taker, that definitely all changed after their journey. Logan managed to gain the confidence he needed and even learned a few tips along the way on how to be a better runner, which landed him in third place in the state after they arrived home from their 6-month trip. Their main goal on their trip was to help others the best that they could and that’s exactly what they did. They helped nurse animals back to good health, they pulled weeds on the farm, they taught children a new language, they loved orphans with their entire heart and soul, and they helped me realize that by any type of volunteering I do, I will be making a difference.
