Their opinions varied but all were good reasons. Majority stated that people should earn their jobs, and this is totally moral. Affirmative Action has just turned into people getting hired based on their race instead of their personality and efficiency. Businesses get better performance from an employee who knows they were wanted because of their skills they had, not because they were told or know that they were just hired because the businesses was required to hire their kind. This can create a low self esteem in minority groups and make them feel unwanted or as another commentor stated on Debate.org it can make these “special people” feel that they are not good enough to do it on thier own. Some people take Affirmative Action as an insult that says minority groups such as Blacks and Hispanics are not smart enough or skilled enough to compete for school or employment positions based on their abilities and knowledge. This policy legally says that minority groups cannot compete against Whites in an equal playing field. Affirmative action is legal racism because minorities are given an unfair advantage. This policy just made the problem worse by starting a new kind of racism towards whites. The Declaration of Independence clearly states that everyone should be equal, no matter their race, therefore, this policy violates the value of equality and fairness. Margaret Atwood once said, “I hope that people will finally come to realize that there is only one 'race' - the human race - and that we are all members of it.” this quotes is totally true. Every human should be treated equal, however Affirmative action goes against this and there has been many innocent victims who can testify. For example, Scipio also included a case in which a girl in a Mississippi school district was prevented for running for a class position due to an Affirmative Action policy put in place by the district. School officials clearly told this girl she could not run because on her skin color. This policy said that blacks and whites could run for class positions on alternating years. This policy was put in to terminate discrimination, but instead caused it. Another case that Scipio said was a well known legal case is the Regents of the University of California v. Bakke. In this case, Bakke, who was at the time a white male medical student, was rejected two years in a row from a medical school that accepted less
