John 15: 5-11 Analysis

An Exegesis of John 15:5-11
Historical Context The Gospel of John has been widely recognized as one of the most influential books in the New Testament. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are quite different from this fourth Gospel of John. The first three books are known as the synoptic Gospels due to the fact that they all convey the same picture. Although there are many similarities, John significantly differs from the other Gospels. John is unlike the other Gospels is that John does not convey as much historical development as the other Gospels do. John tends to focus more on the importance of what happened and on the teachings of Jesus. He seems to have cared more about the meaning than how Jesus’s teaching developed and the opposition that came with it. John also has a prologue and epilogue unlike any of the other Gospels. The Gospel of John is an eyewitness account to the life, words, and acts, of the Lord Jesus Christ. In order to properly understand the Gospel of John the historical context the book must be properly understood. The authorship of John is commonly debated between biblical scholars. The author of the book refers to himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved” (John 21:20, 24). Jesus is saying that if a person can really produce “fruit” through keeping God’s commandments and become a disciple or follower of Him that in doing that they will ultimately be glorifying God. Which is the purpose for all people both in Jesus’s time and in today’s time. Our main goal should be to glorify God and by applying these verses and being his disciple we can truly glorify
