Scientific Revolution Paper
Johannes Kepler “The path of a planet around the sun is an ellipse, with the Sun as the focal point,” -Kepler's first law of planetary motion. The Scientific Revolution was the beginning of the scientific discoveries that have formed modern science. This period started during the end of the Renaissance and continued throughout the 18 century. Johannes Kepler was a major figure in this period, including the observations mentioned in his books as well as his study on Mars and planetary motion. Although Kepler was a very brilliant man, he didn’t exactly have an easy life. Kepler was born on December 27, 1571 in Württemberg, Germany. From then on, he grew up inspired by scientists like Galileo. As a child, Kepler was poor and had no way to afford any form of higher education. Fortunately, there was a scholarship that was given out by the Duke of Württemberg …show more content…
When Kepler was assigned to study Mars and its orbit, he said he'd be able to do it within a week. Little did he know, he couldn't be more wrong. It actually ended up taking him eight years to do so. During this time, he came up with two laws of planetary motion. The first law says that a planet’s path goes around the sun. The other describes the speed of a planet. All in all, the study with Mars is vital to the astronomical advantages we have today. In conclusion, the Scientific Revolution was vital to the things that we have today, and Johannes Kepler was among the great minds in that time. His advances in astronomy and mathematics were quite vital to things as important as bifocals and as obscure as an explanation for depth perception. His laws of planetary motion helped set the groundwork for astronomy. He may have grown up poor, but that single scholarship ended up give a great mind the ability to share his observations with the
