I feel like there is always some sort of improvement needed of lack thereof when it comes to employee motivation. I believe there are not enough perks for the employee to enjoy at their jobs so a lack of employee motivation would be very consistent with this type of audience. Creating team players can be a way that companies may be able to motivate their employees. Companies need to hire leaders that are able to motivate their employees through trainings which is “big picture thinking.” Rewarding a team can help create cohesiveness within the organization (Fisher, 2009). Merit Based Pay From my experience, most of my pay increase on my job has been determined by merit-based pay. Each year we are entitled to a minimum of a 3% raise for our job performance throughout the previous year. Luckily, I have always performed well and my salary increased on a yearly basis. This has worked to my advantage because I have been a salaried employee for the past decade. Many companies today are thriving towards merit-based pay for their employees in an effort to motivate and retain their top employees.
