Jewish Diet Observation

I chose to follow a Jewish diet for the day. I chose this diet because I have many friends that are Jewish and I wanted to understand more about their culture, especially their dietary restrictions. I had to follow several dietary rules that I had to follow for the day. The main rule for Jewish diets is that the food must be Kosher. Some examples of non-kosher foods are mammals without a completely cloven foot which means that Jews muse not eat any pig products or rabbits. Birds of prey as well as fish without fins and scales, and insects are also prohibited. Foods that are Kosher are often marked with a K. Another food restriction is that meat cannot be eaten six hours before eating dairy and dairy products cannot be consumed one hour before consuming meat. …show more content…
For breakfast, I had cereal with milk along with a banana and some strawberries. For lunch, I had a pb&j sandwich paired with carrots, grapes, and oranges. For a mid-day snack I had some unsalted almonds and a piece of dark chocolate. For dinner, I had some grilled chicken breast, a salad, and some roasted cauliflower. I drank during the day was water. What I learned from this diet is that I was more cautious when eating food to make sure I was eating Kosher as well as timing when I ate meat and dairy. I realized that it must take more thought when cooking and eating to make sure that you follow the Jewish dietary regulations.
