John 1:1, a verse quoted from the Christian Bible. Christianity uses the Bible as its foundation. Since the begining of the Bible, it prophesied of the coming of Jesus of Nazareth, whom many believed to be the founder of the Christian religion as well as the Son of God. Throughout the history of Christianity, there were major changes to its sphere of influence and its geographical and political implications, while consistently keeping its core monotheistic values.
For the sake of this essay we will consider Jesus of Nazareth, as the founder of Christianity. During the life of Jesus, He taught that He was the way to heaven and that no man could enter into the kingdom of Heaven, except through Him. He spent most of His time on earth with the poor, sick, wicked, and outcast, teaching, healing and forgiving of their sins. During the time of the Roman Empire (31 B.C.- 476 A.D.), Christians were persecuted severely and would give their lives in order to not deny their faith. As the Holy Roman Catholic church developed as a “Christian” church, many dictates, traditions and practices were established, that helped spread their view of Christianity in Europe.
Although there were changes in the interpretation of Christianity and its sphere of influence around the world, Christianity maintained it core monotheistic beliefs, that there is only one God. From its founding, with the life of Jesus of Nazareth, to present day, the Christian faith maintains the monotheistic beliefs in a faith that is based on one perfect, holy and all-knowing
