The rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar emerged from the imagination of Andrew Webber (composer) and Tim Rice (lyricist). Later, Norman Jewison brought it to the stage. This movie is based around the last seven days of Christ being on the physical earth. It starts out from the time he arrives in Jerusalem and ends with his crucifixion. This film differs from other Jesus related films due to it being focused not only on Jesus, but the events of Holy Week ("Journal of Religion & Film: Do You Think You're What They Say You Are? Reflections on Jesus Christ Superstar”). These are they days dramatically played out (Webber, 1).
