My name, Jenna Lee Wood, is a traditional Southern double name that comes from my mother's side of the family. After a brief interview with my mom, I learned that my first name comes from the 1980's soap opera, "Dallas". My parents loved the name Jenna from the start and knew that if I was a girl, I would definitely be named Jenna. The real struggle came with the middle name, because I was the first girl of my generation of the Wood's; everyone felt that I absolutely had to be named after the Wood side considering it was an abomination that my first name did not automatically come from said side. The only 21st century name was Katherine, so my name would have been Jenna Katherine- Jenna Kate, for short. Unfortunately my great grandmother's sister's name was Katherine; she …show more content…
First, the name Jenna is of Arabic origin and actually means "Heaven" when translated from Arabic to English. The name Jenna was made popular by the television character, Jenna Wade, from the show "Dallas". The name Lee is popular in many cultures and has multiple meanings. When Lee comes from the Celtic and American cultures it means “healer”, but when it originates from the Latin language it means “lion”. The middle name Lee fits my personality well due to the fact that I aspire to be a doctor or, in this case, a "healer". Lastly, the last name Wood dates back to 7th century Old English origins and comes from the countries of England and Scotland. Families with the last name Wood normally lived close to a forest, but families with the last name Woods primarily lived near a forest and made their living there as well. The love for the country way of life must be carried through our ancestors, because no member of the Wood family has ever lived too long in a city before having to return to their solace in the backwoods of the
