Japanese Culture Vs American Culture

Decent Essays
This essay is on the differences between the United States and Japanese culture. We are not only separated by geography but by our attitudes and social culture. I will be explaining the main differences between our economies, crime, and education systems.

First let's delve a little into the economy. The traditional image of Asian countries is that they are relatively poor societies. Today Asian countries are building a huge middle class. Japan is a model among them. When it became a rich country it spread its wealth evenly throughout the country's population and that thinned the gap between poor and rich. Because Japan distributes the wealth equally the people have a sense of fairness and that adds to the stability and civility of their society.

During the World War II, or the effects of-of it, Louie and Miné and some of their other friends and family were captured by the Japanese and were sent to one of there camps. The Japanese had some very strict rules and anyone who betrays those rules or doesn’t follow them will be isolated and dehumanized. Writing this paper has been interesting to say the least. The Japanese Culture is somewhat like the African American culture I grew up in. They value respect of your ancestors and elders, and they believe that you should keep family business a secret and never really seek outside help. Also, just like the African American men in my society, the Japanese men do not believe that should seek professional help.…

Along with being told that they only had a certain amount of days to move out of their homes, Japanese Americans were forced to move out of their homes. Days after the attack on Pearl Harbor signs were posted that the Japanese Americans were to only pack what they can carry and get rid of the rest of their belongings, then they would move to camps under government surveillance. This came as a shock to a lot of Japanese Americans, they did not expect the United States to question their loyalty. Selling the remainder of their items that they could not carry proved to be difficult. Buyers offered the lowest amount of money they could, while the Japanese Americans wanted much more cash for the things that was valuable in their eyes.…
