On 8/31/17 a home visit and ISP meeting was completed with the McClellan family. The case worker was waiting in her car when she saw Mrs. McClellan ran into the house with Hailey the baby. On 12/10 I called and spoke with Sandra Golston, the aunt of Jakayla. Ms. Golston said her niece has only been going to the operation for a short period of time, but unsure exactly. Ms. Golston said she has had three different incidents regarding the operation and is very concern for the safety of her nieces there. Ms. Golston stated she had went to pick both her nieces up from the daycare and when she got to the front to sign them out, there names were not listed on the sign in sheets. Family: Gina is a 5 y/o female who resides in South Amboy with the Rodriguez family. When Gina was first placed in the Rodriguez home she displayed some challenging behaviors (i.e. (i.e. grabbing her vagina, hitting daughter, being disrespectful to resource grandmother, she will take off running when she is out in the community and walking up to strangers). Gina would also become very anxious and fearful whenever the caregiver leaves the house. Gina would expresses to Mrs. Rodriguez her fear of her (Mrs. Rodriguez) not returning or being away for a lengthy amount of time. The patients that came in were 6 years old for a skin allergy test, mother of a 13 year old who has autism, sensory processing disorder, and complex regional pain syndrome, 4 month old premature girl who received her last dosage of Synagis, 10 year old who was recently diagnosed with ADHD, 16 year old with ADHD having a follow up appointment, and 3 months old who has a diagnosis of ‘Failure to Thrive’. It was nice seeing the author of the book we read over this summer and discussed a lot about in class. It was my first time meeting the author of a book that I had read, and it was a cool experience. I enjoyed it because we were able to ask Ruth questions that we had in our mind while reading the book, and we were able to understand the process it took Ruth to complete “A tale for the Time Being”. Some themes that Ruth discussed in the event had to do with the characters she chose, the reason it took so long to complete it, structure, and the ending of the book Ruth Ozeki said that she didn’t have to sit down and think which characters to put in this novel, but rather the voices and the characters themselves came to her. The reading is timely for me in my current job! Between having a new special education Director, Cyndi Panko and watching the district handle the ongoing crisis, this course, and these readings are opportune. As I watch Cyndi endeavors to build strong relationships with parents, community, and other district administrators she applies many techniques described in both readings. I participated in a crucial staff conversation in which Cyndi terminated a contract employee's contract. Per the reporter Cecile has been staying at Hope Street Shelter in Minneapolis since 2/14/17. Per the report, Mr. Torbor gave permission for Cecile to stay there the day she arrived, but has now stopped all communication with Cecile and the shelter.
