Friday and Wednesday’s gallery walk was a huge learning experience. I learned so much about topics that I didn’t know anything about like Kent State, The Space Race and the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. When I was presenting I loved seeing how interested people were in my topic as was I. People had so many questions and it was great to be able to know so much and answer them. My topic was the John F. Kennedy assassination. Going into this project I knew of the assassination but I didn’t know much about why it happened and who did it. One of my most interested pieces of evidence was from LA Times that said “Howard found a little green address book and on the 17th page under the heading ‘I WILL KILL’ Oswald listed four men: an FBI agent named James Hosty; a right-wing general, Edwin Walker; and Vice President Richard Nixon. At the top of the list was the governor of Texas, John Connally. Through Connally’s name, Oswald had drawn a dagger, with blood drops dripping downward.” Kennedy wasn’t one of the men Oswald had intended to kill. This was shocking to me, I had no idea that Kennedy wasn’t supposed to die. This made me even more interested about my topic. Another piece of evidence from LA Times says “Indeed, he admired JFK's important initiatives like the president's efforts at detente with Russia.” This also was a very interesting piece of evidence because it made me even more curious as to why JFK died if his assassinator agreed with his views and what would have happened if he hadn’t died. After getting my project assigned I instantly started digging and filling out the six levels of questions which made me understand my topic even more. I started out with level one and two questions which were simple and gave me a little knowledge about JFK and who he was. Then I moved onto the harder questions like “What would happen if Connally had died instead?” and “Can you elaborate on the reasoning for JFK’s death?” All of the answers to these questions opened up new doors of information about JFK and his death. They instantly made me more curious about why he died and why his assassinator shot him. At times it was also very sad to learn about a death that wasn’t supposed to happen. Nobody should have gotten hurt so at times it was sad. It made me feel bad even though I wasn’t around during that time.

During that event there were protests about the Vietnam War and in my project we talked about the Vietnam War and how it may have been different if JFK lived so it made me think about how the Kent State protests and killings may have never happened if JFK survived. Another presentation that I made a connection to was My Lai Massacre because it also was associated with the Vietnam War. So if JFK had survived this may have never happened. 500 people may have never been killed. So with every presentation that was connected to the Vietnam War it made me think how it could have been different if JFK had lived. So many lives would have been
