Almost every night my family and I feast on an Italian dinner that consists of pasta, meatballs, and warm garlic bread. Some other days we eat a rather exotic dish for those who live in America, it’s called Saltimbocca alla Romana. From famousfoods.com, “The dish you see below is a very popular meat recipe from Rome. It’s called Saltimbocca alla Romana. Veal with Parma ham, powdered with flour and extra virgin olive oil, a very tasty way to cook meat that can easily be prepared at home. It is a common dish that Romans eat often.” The main religion in Italy is Roman Catholic, unlike my family which is Jewish. Italy also consists of 10 major religions as stated at “religioninitaly.com”, “Other religious groups in Italy include over 1m Muslims, 700,000 Eastern Orthodox Christians, 550,000 evangelical Protestants, 235,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses, 45,000 Jews, and the Waldensian Evangelical Church and other small groups […].” Like America, sports are a big part of the Italian heritage. The most popular sport in Italy by far is soccer. Italy’s passion for soccer is a burning fire that can bring out very competitive feelings. In Italy it is a tradition to wear the soccer team’s colors for good luck for that team. Although the good luck charm of wearing team colors doesn’t work all the time it’s all in good fun. Italy’s foods, religion, and sports are all a big part of its heritage and is important to all Italian families so they can enjoy the basic Italian life
