Both the Italian Renaissance and Northern Renaissance art forms centered on realism and religion, but differed in that Italian art emphasized the human form and aristocracy, while Northern Art focused on fine details and color, and the everyday life of peasants. Northern art was predominantly Gothic, but over time began to adopt some of the Italian characteristics. To illustrate, the ‘Adoration of the Magi’ created by Albrecht Durer, shows the minute details used by Northern artists as well as the careful portrayal of the human form used by Italian artists. Italian art focused on wealth and aristocracy and showed how powerful and religious people were. Trade flourished during the Italian Renaissance, making people wealthy and yearning…

Cowboys seldom spring to mind when we think of Italy. Historians might imagine the grandeur of ancient Rome, the Colosseum or the Pantheon while art lovers might be reminded of the Renaissance, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci or Caravaggio. For others good food and fine wines, pasta or pizza might spring to mind. Spaghetti Westerns are famous and it is common knowledge that some of them were filmed in parts of Italy like Abruzzo.…
In the 1960 Western Europe had achieved a remarkable political stability and a dramatic economic growth, but not all the people liked how the government was working. For each place there were a different reason the people had discontent with the government such as in Britain, the people did not like how the poor and middle class people were being treated compared to the rich and treatment of different races was a problem as well. In 1966 Harold Wilson in office decided to freeze wages and prices, so Britain could try and restore the balance between their spending and their production. This was very unpopular and was seen by his party as him exploiting the poor to support the rich. (E49)…

I am an alien. I am an Italian citizen. I am someone who eagerly embraced the idea of moving to the United States. As an 11-year-old, I was too young to understand the drastic change of life my dad and I would have to go through.…
As I previously discussed family relationships are extremely important to the Italians, and they do what they can to ensure their family bonds, stay strong, constant and healthy. Along with family they take pride in their culture, which involves the Italian food, the Roman Catholic religion and even the history of the country. These three aspects have so much beneath the surface and could be studied endlessly, that is what makes the Italian discourse community so interesting. Lastly we see the Italian language which is evidently very unique to Italians and makes them one as a whole. The power of language allows for smooth and an easy communication between the members of the community.…

My Italian heritage goes very far back to my great-great-great grandparents who were my first known relatives to come to the United States during their life in the 1900s. My paternal great-great-great grandfather Giuseppe Sunseri was born in Trabia,…
The history of Italian Americans is quite storied; we, as Italian Americans, have had a powerful impact on the development and augmentation of America as a whole. From the arts to the Supreme Court, we have made an indelible mark, especially on the culture of America. When our relatives made their way to the United States, they came with hope: a powerful catalyst for change. These immigrants hoped to not only to have a prosperous life for themselves, but also for their children to thrive in the land of opportunity. Through hard work and determination, many Italian Americans migrated from densely packed, segregated ghettos to suburban America while retaining their rich culture and a strong sense of family.…
Since ancient times, they have been divided by region, as each part of the country has had its own distinct culture. Therefore, if anything, they would brag about how their specific region has their own cultural differences. Historically, each region has spoken a completely different version of Italian, to the point where differences in accent are noticeable from town to town, let alone from Milan to Naples. (Gardaphe, 2004). When Italians immigrated to America, a new and foreign land, they lucidly came together as one.…
Due to my heritage, I have been raised with customs that follow the culture precisely. Italian culture is a large portion of the foundation that built my family. Fortunately, we do follow many Italian customs. However, our traditions are not followed down to the very last detail pertaining to Naples’ culture due to the other traditions picked up from New Jersey’s citizens. Like your typical Italian family, we like to enjoy pasta every Sunday.…
