Islam: The Five Pillars Of Islam

Islam is an interesting religion in a multitude of ways. First, way this religion is interesting is that the founder of this religion is Muhammad. Muhammad, who was born in 570 A.D. at Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, was born into a noble family known for their honesty and upright character. Another thing about Muhammad is that he is a prophet, which to Islamic followers is believed to be the last prophet of Allah (Islamic word for God). The story of how Muhammad became a leader of a new religion that the angel Gabriel came to him and inspired him to do. Gabriel did this by reciting the first revelations of the Quran and informs him that he is God's prophet. In his state he inspired guidance thought to Muslims was from God himself. Islam spread at this point when Muhammad invited nearby tribe and nations. Later he returns to the city of Mecca with a massive amount of followers for his new religion. Another interesting part of the Islamic faith is the practices and beliefs of it. First, one of the central beliefs of the Islamic religion is that Allah is the only God and Muhammad is his prophet. Now, onto one of the practices is the “Five Pillars of Islam”. The “Five Pillars of Islam” are faith, prayer facing Mecca, fasting, pilgrimage to Mecca (If you can afford the trip), and alms. Another interesting part of this religion is the Qur'an. The Qur’an is the sacred text of this respective faith. This book was written 30 years after Muhammad’s death and is though to the people of Islam to be the literal word of God. . Unlike a lot of Catholic faiths, Muslims have great emphasis on the Day of Judgment. This is the day all men will be judged based n their works. If people on this day aren’t Muslim then those people are sent to burn in a pit of fire
