In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, the best intentions of good, noble people can lead to tragedy. For example, in Act I, when Brutus talks to Cassius, he states that “if it be aught toward the general good/ set honor in one eye and death I' th' other,/ and I will look on both indifferently” (1.2.85-87). This shows that Brutus is noble and honorable because he says he would die, if it was for the good of Rome. Another example, is in Act II, Scene I, Brutus states “it must be by his death, and for my part/ I know no personal cause to spurn at him/ but for the general” (2.1.10-13). Although Brutus created tragedy by killing Caesar, he thought is was for the good of Rome, even though he didn't have a personal reason to kill
