Golf: Is it a sport? Many people claim golf is a sport just because it is an Olympic event. Sailing is also an Olympic event, yet people do not consider sailing a sport. Amy Goldstein from ESPEN stated, “There is no running, jumping, or cardiovascular activity in golf. If an activity does not make you break a sweat, or if it can be done while drinking and smoking, then it is not a sport.” Not only do golfers have carts to haul them and their gear around course, but they can participate in this activity with injuries unlike any genuine sport. Golfers also play while focusing on other things like social media while playing. Golf is clearly not a sport, it does not make you work hard, and it requires minimum levels of skill that anyone can possess.
