One primary consideration for implementing Internet of Things at NCH would be the integration and adaptation into every day functions. Employees in the hospital are used to their normal routines and are acclimated with the technology currently in place. If IoT were to be brought into NCH, employees would be taken out of their comfort zone and be forced to learn a new skill. IoT is also a complex technology and would require employees to attend training to learn about its complexity and the many benefits it can provide. The staff would need to have a strong understanding for the core system of IoT so when updates come along, the staff will be able to learn and adapt quickly. Another consideration to take note of is the constant monitoring involved with IoT. When a patient leaves the hospital and is being monitored, the doctor in charge must find time between seeing patients in the office and his/her other duties to check on the multiple monitored patients. This will require doctors to pay attention to time management and to ensure all patients, whether seen in the office or monitored at home, are still receiving exceptional experiences. Lastly, there is a possibility if IoT is implemented, surface level staff could lose their jobs. IoT has endless uses and possibilities and is expanding beyond what is thought to be possible. NCH faces a risk when implementing a complex …show more content…
To make the process less stressful, we suggest NCH reach out Cisco for assistance. Cisco is the worldwide leader in networking for the internet and has a lot of experience with launching new technologies, such as IoT. They can guide you and your team on the best way to transition this technology into your everyday functions and provide training seminars to your current staff. We believe it would be beneficial for you to set up a meeting with Cisco and evaluate their plan for implementing IoT in NCH. Before the meeting, Cisco would put together a fictional business plan. In the plan, we would have Cisco explain their ideas surrounding how to implement, transition, and safeguard IoT if it were to be used at NCH. We think Cisco would help integrate IoT smoothly for many reasons. Cisco has multiple training videos and resources available for the staff to learn how to use IoT. By integrating a training program with both NCH staff and Cisco employees, learning errors will be reduced because the NCH staff will have experts directly available to answer their questions. Cisco also possesses many threat protection and security plans for the company database if IoT is put into place. This can take away a lot of your worry as to whether the information stored within IoT will be safe from breach. After training and installation are completed, we would suggest you keep a few of
