Into The Wild Chris Mccandless Conflicts

The conflict that Christopher (Chris) McCandless, the main character struggled with several conflicts both internally and externally. His internal conflict was what stood out to me the most in which, Chris attempts to prove his manhood and that he can live off the land. In addition, there is a conflict between himself and nature in which, McCandless goes into the wilderness with little knowledge of what’s around and with a scarce amount of resources. Chris also faces a man versus society conflict. He disapproves of the society and its expectations and the society views McCandless’ actions as crazy.
There were a few parts in the book that foreshadowed incoming events. For example, in the story there is part where on Chris’ last postcard to Wayne Westerberg he writes in way where he acknowledges the fact that he may not survive in the Alaskan wilderness. After reading the book, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, in my perspective the book was very intriguing. I personally liked the fact that the author created the book based on the desire to gain more knowledge about the mysterious death of Christopher Johnson McCandless.
To finish, in the book, the author Jon Krakauer relates his younger self to Chris. In chapters fourteen and fifteen, Krakauer talks about climbing Devils Thumb in Alaska. He further explains how his younger self was self absorbed and willful similar to Chris McCandless.
