This can be a controversial issue mainly because the baby’s decision whether to perform this reconstruction is not taken into account. Thereafter, a doctor examines its chromosome to determine if the new born has male or female attributes. Then performs the surgical procedure of eliminating one of the genitals. Thirdly, health care professionals and parents need to consult the newborn in the following years to ensure he or she is receiving all the proper treatments. This will probably cause problems when adulthood comes into place, but I couldn’t imagine the excruciating pain the child can be exposed to at school and just in society in general. Getting laughed at for having male and female attribute is just too horrible for a parent to go through. Acknowledging that a surgical procedure can determine a newborn’s gender and some happiness and comfort to a child’s life is more suitable than no newborn surgical procedure at all. Ultimately assigning my child the best gender in accordance to their chromosome is my proper and best solution for an intersex baby.
Overall, intersex newborns are faced with long-term pain whether it is surgical or sentimental. Seeking health care professionals is the best solution for an intersex baby.
