Tom, Daisy’s husband, is jealous of Gatsby despite his own affairs. He desires revenge for Daisy’s infidelity. Nick is conflicted in helping Gatsby meet Daisy again after so many years. He knows it is wrong but also know Daisy is not happy in her current situation. Even on the eve of her wedding, Daisy in a drunken stupor, is ready to call off her wedding due to the letter she had received. She thinks it might be better to marry for love and not money but when she sobers up she does what is expected of her from the pressures of her family and marries Tom. We also have the story of Myrtle Tom’s mistress and Daisy. Myrtle has no problem calling for her lover right in front of Daisy.
