Intelligence tests have been used for several years now to distinguish the level of intelligence of an individual. Although the tests can be beneficial in a school environment, the controversy of them unfair grouping the test takers by categories such as race. Over the years, researches have configured new tests that expand to different levels of intelligence. Society is diverse, and each person has unique learning capabilities. Nontraditional test have been developed based on present day studies of the human brain. Even though the world in advancing rapidly, sometimes it is not a terrible choice to still use a traditional method. WISC-III, an intelligence test designed for children in the early 1900’s, is still used by some today when testing a child’s intelligence level. However, times are changing and people enjoy change. Both theories have “the assumption that traditional theories and tests fail to capture essential aspects of intelligence. (“Benson”) Although a theory like this one may seem great written on paper, it is a real challenge to prove it will work in a setting such as a classroom. Robert J Sternberg designed the STAT test to focus on different aspects of intelligence. Sternberg and a few of his colleagues conducted a project to improve college success among student.
