The epidermis is made up of mainly epithelial cells but also contains four other cells and covers the outside of the body or otherwise known as the body surface. The other four cells are Keratinocytes are a fibrous protein which protects the epidermis, Melanocytes produces a brown pigment and protects the skin from UV light, Langerhans cells deals with immune response, and Merkel cells gives us the sense of touch. There are also five sublayers that are associated with the epidermis. The stratum corneum is the outmost layer contain many layers of dead keratinocytes which continually shed and replace to form new healthy cells (Rapid Learning).…

Hello Disha, Thank you for the concise discussion of the disadvantages of the various techniques that are used in assessing the depth of the burn wound. “Burn wounds that heal within a 3-week window have improved aesthetic and functional outcomes with a reduced degree of scarring” (Khatib, Jabir, O’Connor, & Philip, 2014, p. 1). To promote optimal treatment for burn wounds, an immediate and accurate depth assessment is required (Sainsbury, 2008). Burn depth is frequently evaluated by clinical evaluation, however, it is subjective and has an accuracy of only 60-80% (Sainsbury, 2008).…

Anthropocentric idealism is destroying the earth; to believe humans are the most important being on the planet is ridiculous, and extremely selfish. Because of this ideal, non domestic animals are considered of lesser value, and are used for our benefit (whether it be for food, clothing, or other goods.) These animals are not afforded the rights that all living beings deserve- the right to a pain free life and the right to live. This is what vegans fight for, they fight for animal rights, and the end of animal based products to create a healthier and more humane earth. Veganism is a lifestyle that aims to avoid as much abuse and exploitation of animals as possible.…

Although animal experimentation has provided many benefits, there are alternatives to test toxic substances that may eliminate the cruel use of animals in research. The United States, along with many other countries, have turned to the use of animals in research labs to test human products for hazardous substances. According to the Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal, the United States uses about 12 million animals every year making it the biggest conductor of animal experimentation in the world. Scientists and many companies believe that testing their products on animals save humans from being harmed if the product is toxic. However, no matter what the benefits of animal experimentation are, the tests conducted on the animals are cruel.…
