When they’re by themselves they’re not inclined in thinking about helping each other but when a threat is brought they learn to work together and help protect each other. They’re the minority in the book because of their similarities and consequences that they could potentially face. When they look out for each the most is when Curley’s wife shows up and tries to flirt with one of them.On pages 75 to 76 Candy and Crooks both are protecting Lennie from Curley’s wife by trying to get her out of Crooks’s room. On page 75 Candy said, ” So maybe you better jus’ scatter along now, ‘cause Curley mabe ain’t gonna like his wife out in the barn with us ‘bindle stiffs.’” On page 76 Crooks said, “You got no rights comin’ in a colored man’s room… If you don’t I’m gonna ast the boss not to ever let you come in the barn no more”.They stood up for each other and Lennie when arguing with Curley’s wife.
