Support 3: Along with increasing bodily functions, naps lower mental stress. According to Maria Allegra, "in a 2011 study, researchers at Allegheny College found that napping was a factor in lowering blood pressure after mental stress. The people in the study who took a daily 45 minute nap on average had a lower blood pressure after taking a mental stress test than those who didn't have a nap." People who takes naps are generally less stressed and feel better, because when you have a strong mind then you also will have a strong body.

ARTICLE #6 Preventing Healthcare Worker Fatigue From Coverys Risk Management (Janelle Mickelson, RN, BSN, MSA, CPHRM) Healthcare organizations providing 24-hour care have always faced staffing challenges. But, with emerging trends such as nursing shortages and shorter lengths of hospital stays, nurses’ shifts have increased well beyond the traditional eight-hour shift. From an average student's’ perspective the idea of sleeping to be more productive is perceived to be counter intuitive, and in essence, ironic. When taking into consideration the dense academic and auxiliary workload of a student; essays, projects, assignments, tests, finding internships, research, establishing meaningful relationships, and personal activities to get a mental break from it all, efficiency is paramount and sleep should not be the go to course of action. However, this linear way of conceptualizing how one’s productivity is affected as a result of a nap can cause a few caveats on understanding the benefits that naps can give. But for those that are enthralled by the action of sleeping, and even consider it as a hobby, can they pull themselves out of their dazed state and use the nap as an effective means to make sure they can complete their work? Are naps a secret technique used as a means to master the constant struggle of time management, or are they simply distractions?…

The argument of “Rethinking Sleep”, by Davis K. Randall, is people should consider sleeping in segments rather than 8 hour blocks. The two reasons are, naps with deep sleep help brains function at a high level, and segmented sleep improves daytime performance. Two more important pieces of evidence for the first reason are , “...recent studies suggest that any deep sleep- whether in an eight-hour block or a 36-minute nap- primes our brains to function at a higher level, letting us come up with better ideas, find solutions to puzzles more quickly, identify patterns faster, and call information more accurately. ”(lines 51-54), and “ Researchers at the City University of New York found that short naps helped subjects identify more literal and…

Another common argument against nap times in schools is that if kids do this then they won’t be fully awake for classes after that time and not get enough education, but actually if nap time is approved in almost all children school’s can get better grades and better bodies. That may be true that kids can get less done or not get any done; however, they will get even more done because the brain will be more ready to do more work than it was ready for to start with. Naps can help a lot of children in schools to pay more attention in classes and get more work done. Naps can help in a significant way for children, teens and even teachers. This could help teachers by letting them have a little bit of time to do what they need to do so they don’t have to work as hard through the day as they normally do.…

Around 20-30 years ago, you likely laid in the following familiar position at one point in another. Back on a thin "sleeping mat" that was laid on a cold tile floor, surrounded by the other twenty or so members of your kindergarten class. But you weren't sleeping, and aside from maybe one kid who was already wise enough to respect sleep, no one else was either. You stared at the ceiling knowing that as soon as the lights flicked on there would be a rush for the toys, and you'd be god damned if that piece of shit Timmy was getting to the only Buzz Lightyear before you.…

When people sleep, their body rests and restores its energy levels. A good night sleep means to help you cope with stress, solve problems, or recover from illness. “Sleep is prompted by natural cycles of activity in the brain and consists of two basic states: rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and non-rapid eye movement sleep, which consists of Stages 1 through 4. During sleep, the body cycles between non-REM and REM sleep. Typically, people begin the sleep cycle with a period of non-REM sleep followed by a very short period of REM sleep.”…
