Regardless of its appearance it probably has a special meaning to them. My sister, Hannah, and I have a lovely litter jaguar stuffed animal from our grandma. She takes it with her everywhere when possible. Surprisingly she lost it after a while, but got a replacement.

Living in America, you tend to pick up things that might be uncommon to you because of where you come from. At the time that you can't even afford the things that you wanted. Growing up in the Philippines, my family struggled with financial issues, most of the things that I had were hand-me-downs. Living that kind of life taught me to not be too wasteful and don't throw it out if it's not completely empty. When my family arrived in the United States I was eight years old and was also very excited because it was a new start for us.…

Paper Assignment #1 In my opinion, I think that anything that belongs to someone’s close friend could be considered to be of sentimental value. I also find it highly possible that if the object contains a symbolic background of some kind, it may carry an even deeper meaning. Considering how close Aeneas and Pallas became as friends, I’m sure that somewhere behind the scenes, it’s possible that Pallas may have told Aeneas a story or two about why he chose to wear that belt and what it means to him. I also think that the images on the belt were highly capable of influencing violent feelings and actions.…

On that Christmas morning in 2011, I was given the best gift; it was an envelope with a plane ticket to visit my aunt down in West Palm Beach, Florida. I was only thirteen years old and this was going to be my first time going on a vacation without my parents. I would be flying down with my friend from work and we would go our separate ways once we arrived down in Florida. I could not wait for that day to come; it was exactly one month from Christmas Day. When that day finally came I could not sit still in class waiting for the school day to end so I could start heading to the airport.…

There’s an elephant in the room, and her name is Lucy. Whether talking figuratively or literally, this room is much too small, and has sparked major controversy in the eyes of people all around the world. The sad truth about an idiom representing an issue that is too big to ignore, yet no one wants to talk about, is that it also represents a lonely elephant in a frigid Canadian zoo; confined in a small area surrounded by concrete, and metal bars for most of the year. Lucy is a 34-year old Asian elephant at the Edmonton’s Valley Zoo - alone since 2007 and sick with arthritis, foot disease, and an undiagnosed breathing problem.…

Nearly 15 years ago, I was in the first grade being asked to draw the person I imagined myself to be when I grew up. My picture portrayed me and several different types of animals at a veterinary clinic with the explanation stating, “When I grow up, I want to be a vet because I want to help animals.” I grew up an only-child and was devoted to all types of animals as if they were part of my family. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a vet. As a child, I would pretend to do surgery by stitching together holes in my stuffed animals.…

Obviously everyone has heard the saying everyone is different. Which is true, and that means that people are going to have different opinions on their relationship with "stuff". Growing up my mom has always told me, "Erica you better not get rid of your grandma 's stuff when you get older, or I 'm gonna come back and haunt you." Which I guess I 'm just not a sentimental person, but I have never saw the point of keeping it.…
