What do firefighters do on a day to day basic? Now if you’re reading this just like me you’re wondering the same thing. Well let me tell you, I did a couple of research myself to find out. We all know firefighters have a busy day, they put out fire, and we think that’s it. But little do we know there is more. For example I bet you didn’t know they did other activities, cleaning, calls for service, not even their shift time! We think of a firefighter and I’m guessing the first thing you think is red, fire, truck, but you don’t know anything else. That’s exactly why I’m about to tell you more. First let’s talk about the basics, work hours, shift times, you know all that good stuff. Most firefighters work a 24 hour shift followed by a 48 hours

Let’s start off with a structure fire call. A structure fire is a fire which involves a residential, commercial, or industrial buildings. It can vary from a single-family house and townhomes, to apartments and tower blocks, which can also vary to offices and shopping malls. This call includes engines, ladder trucks, rescue squads, chief officers, and an EMS unit. And no I’m not only going to talk about that call, there is more calls believe me, look just because I’m nice I’ll tell you about two more calls. Let’s move on to the Technical Recuses. Technical Recuses refers to saving a life or property that needs the use of tools and skills that exceed those normally reserved for fire fighters, medical emergency, and rescue. These calls can include rope rescue, swiftwater rescue, confined space rescue, ski rescue, cave rescue, trench/excavation rescue, building collapse rescue, and much more. Alright now let’s move on to the last call I will be talking about Hazardous Medical Spill. A hazardous Medical Spill is very dangerous it is when any substance or agent (biological, chemical, radiological, and/or physical) that is spilled and can be capable of posing a risk to a person, the environment, and property. Okay thats enough of this calls for services I’m pretty sure you get the point so let’s move
