In the United States, between 2004 and 2012, 27% to 38% of influenza associated pediatric deaths were attributed to IB although it only represented 18-26% of all circulating viruses [2, 5]. About half of these children did not have any known medical conditions. Therefore, IB may contribute to a higher attack rate among children and adolescents, than among adults, and infections may be more severe [1, 4, 5].
