SUBJECT: MILPER 12-309 Removal Of Ineligible Promotable Soldiers (SPC/CPL/SGT) From The Promotion Standing List

1. Purpose: To clarify the removal of ineligible, promotable Soldiers (SPC/CPL/SGT) from the promotion standing list.

2. Facts:

a. Thousands of Soldiers in the ranks of SPC, CPL, and SGT have been erroneously placed on the promotion standing list. Immediate reenlistment prohibition codes such as APFT failures, overweight Soldiers, and bars to reenlistment are just some of the reasons these Soldiers have been erroneously placed on the list.

b. These codes can be found on the Soldier’s Enlisted Record Brief and if not corrected and removed by the unit/S1, will result in removal from the promotion standing list. A complete
