Mass amounts of advertisements are also contributing to consumer conformity in America. It may not always seem like it makes that much of an impact, but the passing billboards and long commercials stay with you. These clever advertisements are convincing everyone to buy a product. But not always because it’s a good product. More so that you will feel younger, or popular, or so you fit in with the crowd. The “I’m a PC, I’m a Mac” campaign for example shows PC as a bland, nerdy, middle aged man in a suit. While Mac is a young, stylish, lax guy with his hands in his pockets. This advertisement attracts young adults and teenagers that don’t want to be old fashioned. They want to have the latest things, so they have to have a Mac. It can even appeal to a mature audience.
