A Hurdle through Time George C. Wolfe wrote the play The Colored Museum, which was a mocking assessment of African American identity and culture as it gives a feeling of discomfort and a delight to the audience. The play consists of eleven series of exhibits redefining the ideas of what it means to be black in a modern America. The audience appears to be traveling through time and viewing the lives of African American from slavery through the civil war to the war of today that had been existing from the start, racism. Independence Seaport Museum is located at Penn’s Landing along the Delaware River. The museum was founded in 1960 and was known as Philadelphia Maritime Museum before it changed to Independence Seaport Museum. It consists of a museum, two ships called Cruiser Olympia, Submarine Becuna and a replica of Schooner Diligence. If we first look at the middle of the building, we see a triangle right above the columns. Right in between the triangle and the columns is a large slab known as the abacus which is to support the architrave that is right about it. For my final week at the Truman Presidential Library and Museum I spent the majority of my time scanning more Lincoln Coins like I mentioned during my last reflections. I completed scanning and TMS Re-Entrying two more boxes that contained approximately fifty to seventy-five coins a piece. Needless to say, the Museum has a lot of these coins. When I left on Thursday, there were still six more boxes that no one had begun scanning. I have always had a passion for history and storytelling since I was a child and decided in seventh grade world history class that I wanted to be an archaeologist, discovering ancient cultures and uncovering their secrets. I maintained this plan, arriving at Boston University as an archaeology major but after several semesters of study realized that it wasn’t the exact path for me. I began to grow my appreciation of museums, admiring how they could ignite wonder, curiosity, and learning in myself and others. I realized this was where I felt most at home.
