Some are saying that the wealthy for acting in their own benefit instead of the nation’s stability. Their actions such as investing in more automatons, low paid foreign labors, and relocating their factory outside of the US are destroying jobs in America and contributing to the workers’ flat wage rate for many years. In Robert Reich’s “Inequality for All”, he showed that only 6% of the Iphone’s revenue returns to America; the others went to other manufacturing facilities locate at several countries: Germany, Japan, Korea, and China. A significant amount of money and job positions are leaking out of the US. If all of those facilities were all within the country, that could’ve solved a lot of problems of jobs and income. On the contrary, some think that the people in the working class are not working hard enough. Charles Murray stated that “The reforms of the 1960s jump-started the deterioration.” It has been much easier for those who don’t work or work with a very low wage to survive. In addition, according to Arthur Brooks, unhappiness and “immobility” in America are mainly caused by pessimism. People lost their trust for opportunities and failed to invest in their future, which is education. Large companies lose interest in domestic labor mainly because of taxes, benefits, and workers’ skill. The Government is continuity raising income taxes for both the employees and employers. Also, manufacture companies have grown exhausted because they have to carry many burdens other than wages and taxes such as insurances for workers and their dependences, unemployment insurance, or 401k match; while they can the same productivity and quality hiring cheaper labor overseas. As a result, manufacture companies see that they are paying more for labor in America than other countries, and that greatly affects their company’s revenue. However, if American workers can offer better skills and productivity, which makes the same or better revenue for their employers, manufacture companies would definitely rethink about foreign labor. Unfortunately, the only way to fulfill that is Higher Education, and it has become too costly or even inaccessible for many in the American working class. The world market is rapidly growing as well as the number of consumers around the world. Demand grows larger everyday.
