In the online Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) course Introduction to the Incident Command System for Law Enforcement, it discusses the incident command system for first time users. It tells us, “The Incident Command System is a standardized approach to incident management that enables a coordinated response among various jurisdictions and agencies, establishes common processes for planning and managing resources and allows for the integration of facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and communications operating within a common organizational structure.” (training.fema.gov, n.d.)
