For my mask project, I picked a mask from Western South America. The mask that I picked is the Inca Sun God Mask, another name to call the mask is Inti. It is used during ceremonies, to worship the sun. I picked this mask because it caught my attention by its shiny gold. The mask is very irregular by the shape of its face. Also, The history of the Inca Tribe is very interesting because the Incans had the best empire and army. The Sun God is on the flag of Peru, Uruguay, and Argentina.

The Inca Sun God Mask was used for ceremonies, from mid 1438 to 1533. During the ceremonies, the Inca people would use a mask called the Sun God Mask . The mask allows them to worship the sun, by wearing it during ceremonies. The Incan people worshipped the sun because, they thought the sun's heat will create rain so their crops will grow. They did this because in Western South America it barely rains.

The Nubian civilization, modern day Sudan, is arguably the most ancient civilization in Africa, with initial settlements in the territory dated as far back as 8200 BC. The innovations and technological improvements pioneered by the Nubian culture, over time, would spread throughout the continent (most notably into Egypt). Among these advances were the establishment of efficient food production, dogma that would lay the foundations for Egyptian concepts of the afterlife and the birth of material culture. Though their Egyptian neighbors shared some cultural similarities, they often clashed, vying for control of the Nile Valley. Eventually the Nubian civilization prevailed over Egypt, prospering while its adversary languished under the power and…

Apparently, it is a mask and a person, but on an absolute basis, if the performer is fully wrapped, there is nothing more than a simple tree, a monkey, or a white and empty paper. Therefore is up to the actor to create, develop and make the mask come back to life, but then the mask will take control and exhibit the performer by giving him a complete freedom. (Lecoq Jacques, 2015, chap 44, p. 93). When a person gathers enough confidence and courage to experiment the change of not only his face(being covered) but his movements, habits, and even presence, he is ready to wear and give life to a neutral mask. A neutral mask as I mentioned in the beginning, can express tons, but still, the expression is different than the African mask or the Japanese as we are going to see.…
