In-Depth Analysis And Categorize Modern Music

Music always changes as time progresses. The more types of music made leads to having more genres to listen to. This begs the following question. How we do truly know what type of music we are listening to? Categorizing music correctly today is very troublesome. Labeling a song with the correct genre is difficult because of the mixture of various genres in a particular song. An in-depth analysis is required to accurately label a song with the right genre. Can we analyze and categorize modern music correctly? Using ideas of the past genres produces possible genres that could fit the song. After comparing each possible genre to the song, we hope to find a proper fit.

The first possible genre is progressive rock. The use of the strings, guitar, bass and drums are common instruments used in the progressive rock genre. The fast drumming, and fast guitar playing are very common in progressive rock. However, the screaming vocals are not common in the progressive rock genre. The second possible genre is punk. The instrumentation used in this song is common in punk. The hard-hitting drums, short verses, screaming vocals, repeated chorus, and fast strumming guitar are all common in the punk genre. The strings are not common in punk music. Punk also focuses on the lyrics. Most lyrics in punk focus on fighting politics, and alienation. This song does have a punk vibe. The lyrics of the mystery song talk about alienation and disagreeing with authority. This could be a punk song. The final possible genre is metal. Metal uses hard-hitting drums, fast guitar playing, punk like lyrics, and outside influences like elements of progressive rock. The strings are used in metal music. The most common type of metal that uses classical and jazz instrumentation is progressive metal. This song focuses on the lyrics and instrumentation. This means the song could be either punk or metal. Breaking down the lyrics can help determine which one of these genres this song could
