The lab started out with a presentation called Impression Evidence Lab, the powerpoint can be located in my casefile. The presentation started out by giving us knowledge about impression evidence and some examples of them. What also was covered, was how to develop this impressions. For example, in order to develop snow impressions, you use was and dental stone. We then started by putting our shoe impression into the box of foam, carefully. After, we started to pour the bottle of water into the bag of hardening mix, we put in the water little by little to get the perfect consistency. With the help of a fellow classmate, I poured the mix into the shoe impression I previously made. Making sure to go slowly and tapping the box when I emptied all the contents into the foam, my cast was ready to dry.
The next means of business was to get a wooden block and a tub of Play-Doh, we would next use Accu-trans to develop pry marks on the wooden block and lift our fingerprints from the Play-Doh. The Accu-trans came out slowly and was something I had to be careful with, the pry marks dried and so did my fingerprint. I was able to peel the now dried Accu-trans off and could identify the fingerprint as a loop. These impressions can be found in my case file. This concluded our first part of the
