Pablo Picasso's Art Is Not The Truth

Reality, is ones interpretation of how they perceive the world. Based on previous experiences, one forms an understanding of his or her world. It is sensible that people do not share the same experiences as one another, so it is to say that somebodies way of viewing things differs slightly from person to person. What stands as the truth for one person, serves as a lie for another. Pablo Picasso became aware of this phenomenon especially when attempting to captivate his audience and also try to convey a message through his artwork. Picasso believed that art was not the truth, moreover it is a lie in which the artist depicts though their art in order to make a point. Not only does this occur in artwork, but in literature as well. The paintings are patently not real but a fictitious scenario in which the artists manipulate in hopes that it reveals their powerful message. Picasso was known for his surreal paintings which would appear fancifully and impractical in the real world, but being a painting, he was allowed to exaggerate aspects of his art. By doing so, Picasso exposes his take on the truth which then is up for interpretation by the many viewers. The world an artist creates does not exist. It is merely an interpretation of a truth that in many cases people can find meaning in. One cannot step inside the painting into the fictitious world that the artist created, but for the time spent analyzing the piece of art, the viewer gets a glimpse of the inner works of the artist’s brilliant
