I understand the importance of making sure everyone’s history is embedded into the curriculum, but I want to learn the different ways that can be done. One of my main concerns with teaching history is making sure the information and the delivery is age appropriate. Overall, I want to discover ways to ensure I am including multiple perspectives in my teaching, and learn about different resources that support multicultural education for early childhood education.
Action Plan: To achieve this goal I plan to learn more about how to implement a multicultural curriculum. This will allow me to teach my students about topics and subjects from various perspectives that are typically left out of the regular curriculum. Also, it will ensure that all cultures are equally taught in the classroom. In addition to I plan to use the resources learned in class such as tolerance.org and teaching for change.org for lesson plan and activity ideas.

Being updated on the latest research, and teaching methods is important in education because teachers are expected to use the best practices for their students. It would be beneficial to be aware of professional organizations that advocate for education, or workshops and seminars that focus on cultural diversity. In doing so, I could take the information learned from these resources, and use them as tools to guide my teaching and classroom culture. Professional development in cultural diversity is important to me because I enjoy learning about other cultures, and being introduced to new things, and merging the two would be a great experience for everyone.
Action Plan: To achieve this goal, I plan to research professional development opportunities on topics I want to learn more about. Also, I will use the resources learned in class receive more information on lesson plans and multicultural curriculums. In addition to I will subscribe to different magazines and newspaper about teaching methods and multicultural education.
