My mother’s side of the family is the family I am the closest too. My mothers family is united we usually spend every Sunday together, whether it be at my uncles house or at my grandmas house, since they have the biggest houses. My uncles have always been very active in sports and that it why I enjoy playing sports. Throughout my childhood I have played either soccer or basketball. As far as my relationships with my mother’s side of the family, I can honestly say that we all have strong relationships with each other. Family is something that we all value, we always try to help and encourage each other during tough times.
My mother parents are Raquel Campos and Delfino Campos. My mother has four siblings, two brothers and two sisters. She is the second youngest of the five. My grandma Raquel Campos was born on June 7, 1943 in Jalisco, Mexico. She was thirty-two years when she immigrated to the United States. My grandma was raised in a ranch and …show more content…
After listening to my grandparents speak about their childhood, I came to realize that live back then was very tough and harsh as compare to now first, my grandparents did not have electricity or water in their house. They would have to warm up their water on the stove in order for them to able to shower with warm water. They use petroleum candles as lights because they id not have electricity. Secondly, food was scarce during their up childhood, they either ate beans with tortillas or every other weekend they would eat a piece of meat. Equally important, my grandmother’s grandfather was killed during the Cristeros war. During 1926 to 1929 there was an uprising against the anti-Catholic Mexican government of the time, set off specifically by the anti-clerical provisions of the Mexican Constitution of 1917. As a result, of this war many families lost their relatives. My grandmother remembers how her mother often referred to the war as horrible and hostile time
