Another 4.1 million of young people had informal mentoring with teachers, expanded family members or neighbors while they were growing up. Therefore, the experiences of the young people surveyed indicated important positive effects for those who had a mentor. The young people with mentors were more probable to desire and to present in college. In addition, they were the more probable record to take part in sports and other activities such as music. They also were more likely to record in taking guidance roles in school and extra activities, and to regularly participate in their communities.
